Belfast, Northern Ireland. 1986
This is a young soldier of the Royal Anglican Regiment, The Pompadours [nickname of the 3rd battalion the Anglicans] giving point cover as his 'brick' commander liaises with the mobile patrol in the APV. The SLR's (rifle) are never completely slung, instead the sling is attached at the butt end only and then attached to the soldiers wrist. This is to stop anyone grabbing the rifle and turning it on the soldier. (Paul Crispin)
