This page contains a list of the video footage of physical memorials that was taken as part of the Visualising the Conflict project. The video is available as either a 'streamed' version (click on the link in column two), or as a downloadable QuickTime movie (.mov file; click on the link in column three then right-click on the movie to save). The memorial number in the column one is a link to the database information. The same video is also available on the CAINWebService Channel on YouTube.

The short videos are provided to help people not familiar with the memorials to get a 'feel' for their scale and location. Information on memorials had already been provided as textual descriptions and still photographs in the earlier project. The Visualisng the Conflict project provides mapping information on an interactive map (and access to StreetView), the 3D models in the virtual educational space, and these videos are one additional way of visualising a selection of the memorials. The only remaining option is for users to travel to visit the memorials in person.

The videos contain no commentary but do include ambient street sounds at the time of recording. The recordings try to provide enough detail for users to be able to read inscriptions (although users may have to use the 'pause' button during playback). The project only undertook to video a small sample of the many physical memorials in public spaces. However, if people find the video to be of use then it might be possible to add more recordings in the future.
